Ella Brew is a multimedia artist from Oregon, USA, with driving interests in color and play-based design. Admiration for craft is a backbone of their work, with a vocational background in ceramics.
At university Brew focused on the analog intersection between animation and sculpture—often resulting in movable, wooden toy objects. In 2022, in reaction to the US's increasingly conservative abortion laws, Brew shifted focus to researching social, political, and emotional structures surrounding abortion. This resulted in their thesis please take.
Brew currently lives and teaches ceramic workshops in Berlin. There they continue ongoing design project BAKERBREW with collaborator Maddie Baker. Born from shared interests in image systems, infrastructure, and found material, it explores the sculptural possibilities of collection and reordering.
Brew's workshops take place at Clayers Collective, Sculpture Club, and Violaine Toth Ceramics in Berlin.
